Welcome to Lincolnshire EV

At Lincolnshire EV, we are dedicated to providing high-quality used electric vehicles to help you make the switch to a cheaper and greener mode of transportation. Our cars are fully tested, so the mileage range we suggest for each car has been achieved here on Lincolnshire roads in the past few weeks.

These cars are built for around town or city travel. We do not recommend them for long distance travel, where using a supermarket rapid charger can be costly. Charge at home from as low as £1 per day (with a nighttime ev tarrif) or up to £2.50 per day with a regular overnight tarrif. You can use a regular 3 pin wall socket for overnight charging.

You can literally reduce your petrol bill to the equivalent of £1 per day - and the annual road tax is just £20!! Are you ready to save?

All cars come with a long MOT, a 3 month warranty, and peace of mind that there's no polluting engine, or oil to change, or all the associated things that go wrong with petrol engines. You get an electric vehicle at a great price, it's really cheap to run, and you produce zero emissions. It's a WIN - WIN!

Electric Vehicle Sales

We offer used electric vehicles at a fair price. We try to have the best price on our cars in all of Lincolnshire. And, our cars are fully tested, come with long MOTs, warranties, and accurate mileage range estimates - tested by us on local roads.

Worry Free Experience

Comprehensive vehicle inspections by experienced technicians for peace of mind. You'll have a long MOT, everything works, and we'll guide you through all the many gadgets and buttons of your new ev. There's no polluting engines, or engine parts, or oil changes to worry about. It's a clean, zero emissions car, ready for you to glide (drive) away.

The Bottom Line

The sale price is the sale price. We sell our cars as cheaply as we can, so we don't negotiate. You are paying a fair price for the car, for the age, condition and mileage range of the battery. No part exchanges. We offer no finance, but you can use a third party. We prefer direct bank transfers. We do not hold vehicles, as they are sold on a first come basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer warranty on your vehicles?

Yes, we provide warranty options on our vehicles for added peace of mind. All cars come with a minimum 3 month warranty.

What is the inspection process for your vehicles?

Our vehicles come with a long MOT, and have been inspected to make sure you drive away happy.

Are there any financing options available?

No. We do not offer finance terms. All cars must be paid for in full by bank transfer.

You are welcome to use a third party to finance the car.

Also, our prices are non negotiable. The sticker price is a fair price for the year and mileage - and we don't believe you will find a similar car cheaper in Lincolnshire, so no - we cannot drop the price.

Can I charge it up at home? And on the road?

Yes, the car should come with a three pin regular home charger that you plug into any wall socket at home. Using a wall socket can take up to 10 hours to charge up fully. But, if you do it overnight, you can save a lot of money.

You may want to consider installing a professional charging point at home. They can cost up to £1000 to have installed, but they can cut the time it takes to charge by half.

You may also want to buy a rapid charger cable for use at supermarkets or other charging points. These can usually top you up in 30 to 60 minutes, but the cost can be high (from £6 to £9 for an 80% charge) - depending on the brand of rapid charger.

Many supermarket charging stations have the cable already attached, but others don't - and you will need your own cable. They should cost around £80 to £100, but why bother when you can charge at home from just £1 per day, using a standard 3 pin plug.

How accurate is the mileage range?

Most car dealers only tell you the original mileage range when the car and battery were new. However, we know batteries lose some charging ability with time. What you need to know is how many miles can I reasonably expect to get out of this car today. So, we actually drive each car on a full charge to see how long it will actually go, in real conditions.

We give three mileage expectations for our 10 year old or more cars...

1. Drive in ECO mode cautiously locally/around town - expect 65 - 75

2. Drive cautiously in regular Drive mode around town - expect 60 plus

3. Drive long distance at 50/60 mph plus - expect 35 - 40

You can see why we advise to only get an older EV for driving around town, where driving at 30 - 40 mph is the norm. EVs love town driving, where you often see the mileage number go up when you are crawling in traffic. They have regenerative braking, so love a good stop and start - unlike petrol cars.

For example, if I drive around Skegness, go up to Mablethorpe, into Alford and back to Skegness, driving in ECO mode, I can usually get 65-70 miles range on a charge.*

If I drive from Skegness to Boston and back, going a bit faster in ECO mode, I usually get 60-65 miles range on a single charge.

If I drive on the motorway, at motorway speeds in normal drive mode, I realistically won't get much more than 35 miles on a single charge.

*These figures are based on driving a 13 year old Nissan Leaf on 80% battery charge.

So, if you just drive around town, go shopping, and nip to nearby towns and villages - buying a used electric vehicle is perfect for you, you should be able to travel for at least 60 miles, and you will save a small fortune on driving costs.

How long do Electric Vehicles last?

It's still early days in the lifespan of electric vehicles in the U.K., but what we do know, is that 15 years later, those original EVs are still going strong, with at least 80% battery power - and they are predicted by most experts to last well over 20 years or 200,000 miles.

You can get replacement, used batteries - but they will likely cost more than the car is worth. We recently enquired about a replacement battery (with installation) and were given an estimate of £6000. It's just not worth it.

*Please note that some used EVs say 'battery leased.' We do not recommend buying a used car where you don't own the battery, and get roped in to paying £25 or £35 per month for a battery you don't own, and doesn't even get to 100% charge. They've stopped the practice for newer cars, but the 'lease the battery' contract is still attached to some used EVs. We do not offer battery lease cars.

Is the road tax only £20?

Yes. Most of our ev cars are over 10 years old, and the total annual road tax is £20. Check with us for a specific car you are interested in, but most only pay £20 - another great reason to switch to an electric vehicle.

“Buy with peace of mind. The car is inspected by us, and the mileage range is tested by us on Lincolnshire roads - and is accurate. We will also help guide you through all the buttons and gadgets on your new ev (including setting the timer for overnight charging at home), we'll show you how to drive efficiently, and even help advise you on how to get the best charging rate. We only sell used EVs - that's all we know! It's never been easier - or cheaper to own an electric car."
